This project explores the fascinating world of mushrooms and their complex, three-dimensional structures. By closely studying the organic shapes, patterns and surfaces of various mushrooms, I developed a series of knitting samples on the Passap Duomatic 80 that show the structures of mushrooms through three-dimensional patterns in the knitted fabric.
My goal was to translate the formal characteristics of mushrooms into knitwear using suitable knitting techniques and a refined choice of yarn. The central question was which knitting techniques, colors and materials are best suitable to translate the organic structures of mushrooms into textile surfaces.
