Shifting Forms

Geometric Patterns in Fabric

In this project I focused on the techniques of screen printing and pleating, exploring what happens when two-dimensional geometric shapes from printing are translated into the three-dimensional.

While pleating is based on geometric fold patterns, the flexibility of pleated textiles allows these forms to shift. This interplay between rigid geometry and fluid, three-dimensional movement became a central point of interest. I created various samples with different prints and pleating patterns to experiment with this interaction.

A key source of inspiration in terms of shape and color was the snake. How are my samples interacting with the body and how does the movement of the body influence the design?
