Costume Design
Opera “The Turn of the Screw”
In collaboration with the HSLU Music department, we spent six weeks designing and producing the costumes for the opera “The Turn of the Screw”.
Nina Bundi and I worked together on the costume for the Governess. The idea for the costume was to evolve throughout the play, reflecting the character's development. Our concept was to design a variety of individual pieces that could be removed or rearranged in different ways during the play.
We only worked with textiles from the second-hand shop and leftovers. The textiles we found were groundbreaking in terms of design, such as colors and shapes.
Together we designed a print, which we screen-printed in two versions, developed our own cutting patterns, sewed various pieces and knitted a poncho on the knitting machine.
